Principal's Messages

Randy Loving

First and most importantly, I hope you are all safe and if you do not have power at your residence that you get it soon.  For those of you that have damage, I am sorry and I wish you the best of luck and my prayers as you go through the repair process.

I know you have all probably seen Mrs. Tisdell's email stating that we do not have school Friday but I wanted to follow that up with an update on our campus and the activities that we have planned this weekend.

School made out fine.  We had a little water get in that was blown under some of the exterior doors, a tree fell on the road between us and the primary school, and the trees around the ponds really took a beating.  However, our Hurricane Home is in good shape and we will be ready for our students on Monday.

  • We will still have our football game at Parkview Friday Night for 7:00 p.m.  The cheerleaders, band, color guard, and dance team plan on attending but if students can not attend they will not be penalized and if we have an excessive number that can not attend then those groups will not go to the game.
  • As of now, the DTHS volleyball tournament that we were going to host games for is still scheduled for Saturday only.  The games Friday are canceled.  We do plan on hosting games Saturday. If this changes I will send an update as soon as possible.
  • Swimming will still be diving in on Saturday at Crawfish Aquatics.
  • Cross Country is still planning on running at the Brusly Invitational.
  • If you have any questions about these teams or organizations please email the sponsors directly.  If your child is not able to attend they will not be penalized.

Stay safe, I look forward to seeing everyone having school Monday and GEAUX CANES!!

Good Afternoon Hurricane Parents,

What an incredible month of August!   We have gone from not being able to go on campus, to a fully functioning 5A high school.  Our football and volleyball seasons have started.  Band, color guard, cheer, and dance and many more groups and organizations are working hard to build our culture.  I wanted to send home a few announcements and attachments.  We will begin hosting athletic events in our stadium and gyms.  Please remember that the district has passed a Clear Bag Policy.  I have attached some guidelines for the policy.  We also have a few rules for Hurricane Stadium that I have attached.  If you are planning on attending any of our home football games you may park in the parking lot and then tailgate, around the ponds only!  If you do choose to tailgate around the ponds, please be respectful of our beautiful campus and pick up your trash.  Also, remember that it is illegal to have alcohol on a school campus and please stay out of the ponds.

Good Afternoon Hurricane Parents,

Wow, what an honor it is to have been the Principal to open our incredible high school.  It has been an incredible first two weeks.  We are no longer the construction site at the intersection of Parker and 929, we are THE high school!!! We are so excited to finally have students in the halls and begin to develop our culture.  I wanted to remind all of you that Open House is this Monday, August 19th.  We will begin in the main gym at 6:00.  There will be a brief welcome then we will run through a schedule where you will be in each of your students’ classes for 15 minutes.  Please make sure you print out their schedule or take a screen shot of it before coming.  We will have the cheerleaders stationed throughout campus to assist you with finding the rooms.

Also:

  • Tuesday, August 20th will be our first Early Release Day.  On Early Release Days the dismissal bell will ring at 12:00 and those students that are not bus riders are dismissed.  Those that ride the bus will report to the Cafeteria / Hurricane Alley / The Eye and then will be dismissed once lunch is served.
  • The district has passed a Clear Bag Guidelines. Attendees are encouraged to limit the number of items they bring with them to middle and high school gymnasiums and stadiums in Ascension Public Schools for both athletic events and assembly events such as graduation.

Welcome to Prairieville High School, The Home of the Hurricanes!  The purpose of this website is to allow our stakeholders access to information regarding athletics, clubs, organizations, etc.  The contents of the website will be updated periodically as we begin the process of hiring our staff.

Prairieville High School is unique in the sense that we are combining six very different school cultures to create our own.  This is a special journey to be on with our students, staff and community.  As we create the jambalaya of Hurricane tradition, we know what our motto will always be to love, challenge and support our students so that they can achieve their dreams.

It will be a core belief of PVHS that each student’s education is a partnership between the school and family.  We believe that teaching our students to be humble, hardworking and honest is part of a well-rounded education.  These skills are taught through adults modeling the skills on campus, modeling how to “Be the eye!”    With that being said, we are excited to work with our parents in a continuous partnership as we build our community.

For more information on the policies and programs of Prairieville High School,  please review the handbook. . If you need general information or wish to directly contact staff at school, you may call (225) 391-2200.

Sincerely,

Randy Loving
